Prerequisites: have the trip paid for, yellow fever vaccination, travel visa, Passport, hiking gear, USD in Cash, Credit Card, food money, and tip money.

My Itinerary for May 2024:

20th Arrival

21st rest and visit the town

22nd to 27th Kilimanjaro hike

28th rest and nightlife

29th Departure

Costs:

~$1,400 for flight > $2,000 for hike through operation_kilimanjaro

Prices include:

  • Park fees, camping fees, hut fees & rescue fees

  • Twice a day medical health checkup, monitoring with pulse-oximeter and stethoscope with basic first aid

  • Oxygen cylinder

  • Orientation meeting with Moshi and gear check as well.

  • 18% Value added tax on tour fees & services

  • Camping equipment (tents, sleeping mat, camp chairs, camp tables, mess tent & cutlery or meals) and 3 Season mountain tents

  • Airport pickup and dropoff

  • Transportation to & from Mountain Gate

  • Medically qualified mountain guides, cooks, and porters

  • Three meals a day while on the mountain + evening tea with popcorn or peanuts

  • Hot water for washing up daily and treated water for drinking while climbing

  • Pre & post trek accommodation in Moshi. Bed & breakfast basis with storage facilities for excess luggage during hikes.

  • Fair Wages for the mountain crew as approved by the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority (KINAPA) and Kilimanjaro Association of Tour Operators (KIATO).

Some notes of the trip:

  • The connection will be bad

  • People will look at you

  • You will stick out

  • Everyone is nice and welcoming and you are not in danger

  • People are proud of the mountain; it is sacred, and most who live in the mountain villages cannot afford to climb it

  • Things you will experience during your trip are considered a luxury to them

  • Tanzania is our motherland, it is our home
