Breakfast: Campfire Eggs, Bacon, and Bread

Ingredients:

  • Eggs (2-3 per person, depending on appetite)

  • Bacon strips (2-4 per person)

  • Bread (1-2 slices per person, depending on type and appetite)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Butter or oil for frying (optional, if using a non-stick pan or well-seasoned cast iron)

Instructions:

  1. Bacon: Start by cooking the bacon in a skillet over your camp stove or fire. If you prefer less grease, you can place the bacon strips on a grill grate over the fire. Cook to your preferred level of crispiness, then transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain.

  2. Eggs: Drain excess bacon grease from the skillet, leaving enough to cook the eggs (or add a little butter/oil if needed). Crack the eggs into the skillet, cooking them to your liking: sunny-side up, over-easy, scrambled, etc. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. Bread: Toast the bread slices directly on the grill grate over the fire, in a toaster (if available and using an RV or cabin with facilities), or in the skillet used for bacon and eggs. You can add butter to the skillet for extra flavor when toasting the bread.

Difficulty: Easy

This meal is straightforward to prepare, requiring basic cooking skills. The main challenge might be managing the cooking over a campfire or portable stove, especially if you're aiming for eggs cooked to specific preferences.

Weight Level: Moderate
