Dessert: Buttery Cinnamon-Sugar Tortillas
Ingredients:
Flour tortillas
Butter (or a butter substitute)
Cinnamon
Sugar
Equipment:
Skillet or pan
Spatula
Aluminum foil or a plate (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl or container, mix together cinnamon and sugar in your preferred ratio. A good starting point is about ¼ cup of sugar to 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, adjusted according to taste.
Heat the Tortilla: Place a skillet or pan over your camp stove or an open flame and warm it up. Add a flour tortilla to the skillet, letting it heat for a few seconds.
Butter the Tortilla: Spread a thin layer of butter over one side of the tortilla while it's in the pan. If the butter is hard, you can first melt it in the skillet and then brush it onto the tortilla.
Apply the Cinnamon-Sugar: Sprinkle a generous amount of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered side of the tortilla. Use the spatula to flip the tortilla and allow it to cook for a few more seconds, or until the sugar starts to caramelize slightly.
Serve Warm: Carefully remove the tortilla from the skillet and, if desired, fold it in half or roll it up before serving. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
Difficulty: Very Easy
This dessert is straightforward to make, requiring basic cooking skills and minimal steps. The key is managing the heat to avoid burning the tortilla or the sugar.
