Snack: Cheese Wedge

Call me crazy, high in calories, doesn’t spoil in the cold, a great snack for cold weather hikes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cheese wedge (e.g., sharp cheddar or Swiss)

Optional Additions:

  • Whole grain crackers or sliced hardy bread

  • Dried fruit (e.g., apricots, figs, or apples)

  • Nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts)

  • Honey (optional)

  • Smoked Sausage

Instructions:

  1. Pack the cheese wedge

  2. Assemble your snack by placing a piece of cheese on a cracker or bread, topped with your choice of dried fruit, nuts, and a drizzle of honey if desired. Or smoked sausage like a man.

Easiness Level: Very Easy

Weight: Very Ligh

Practicality: Very High (in Cold Weather hiking)

This snack requires minimal preparation, making it very easy to assemble even during a hike. The main effort lies in packing the components beforehand. Cheese, being durable and less prone to spoilage in cold weather, makes for an uncomplicated yet satisfying snack.
